A Dobro Guitar has a metal resonator on its body.And the resonator maybe is an amplifier,there are also some holes on it, seems to uses for tending the voice. The strings of Dobro is also made of metal. So,compared with normal guitar, Dobro Guitar should be sound more loudly and have a sense of metal.

①The Dobro was originally manufactured by the Dopyera brothers in the 1920s and their company eventually merged with the National String Instrument Corporation. The National-Dobro Corporation made several types of resonating guitars and later granted a license to the Regal Musical Instrument Company to make the Dobro. All production stopped for a period during World War II but in the economic boom that followed, several companies continued to make and develop the instrument, including the Mosrite Guitar Company and the Original Musical Instrument Company.
②There are 2 types of dobros: squareneck and roundneck. Roundnecks are typically played in Blues music. Squarenecks, preferred by Bluegrass players, have strings that measure 1 cm off the fret board, and are played on their backs with the strings facing up. In contrast, roundnecks are held like a guitar.
③The Dobro was quickly adopted into country, blues and bluegrass styles due to its characteristic sound and amplified volume. ④From the outset, wooden bodies had been sourced from existing guitar manufacturers, particularly the plywood student guitar bodies made by the Regal Musical Instrument Company. Dobro had granted Regal a license to manufacture resonator instruments, and by 1937, it was the only manufacturer, and the license was officially made exclusive. Regal-manufactured resonator instruments continued to be sold under many names, including Regal, Dobro, Old Kraftsman, and Ward. However all production of resonator guitars ceased following the US entry into the Second World War in 1941.
